Approach

Vocabic gradually immerses you into the world of advanced English vocabulary. Vocabic teaches you 100 advanced English words, and indirectly exposes you to more than 100 others. These words are commonly communicated through books, newspapers, articles, and television. These words often appear in SAT and GRE exams. Some of these words might sound familiar, however their full meaning may not necessarily be known.

“neurons that fire together wire together”

Vocabic gravitates with the newest advances of the neuroscientific frontier. Neuroplasticity exhibited by your ever-adapting brain is complemented by Vocabic’s dynamic learning algorithm. This reflective symbiosis rewards the user with a fast learning curve. Vocabic engages its user by appealing to multiple bodily faculties at once. This interaction builds a rich neural pathway network and delivers long-term results.

Vocabic has 4 Levels which are designed to build upon each other. The mastery of one Level unlocks the access to another. The higher Level material is based on the one provided in the lower Levels. Consequently, the familiarity with the lower Level material is necessary in order to succeed at the higher Levels.

Guideline

The best way to start Vocabic is by familiarization with the Level 1 material included in the ‘Study Area’. You program your brain with audio-visual word associations. You read the examples, which tie closely with the provided mnemonic devices. The examples offered for one word often include the other words. This enforces the continual exposure and facilitates your learning progress.

After experiencing the ‘Study Area’ you are ready to take upon the challenge provided by the games. Each game is being dynamically adjusted according to your learning growth. Playing any of the 4 games tests and solidifies your newly introduced vocabulary set. Between the games you should check your learning status in the ‘Progress’ area. There you can find a calculated recommendation advising you what to do next.

As you compete against yourself you are being aided with the help of the artificial intelligence (AI). During the game play the AI communicates with you in a playful manner. AI either complements or instructs you in accordance with your performance. Some of the AI’s communications are intended to evoke emotional feedback. This strategy has a positive impact on your memory, and further enhances your learning efficacy.

Once you graduate through all of the 4 Levels, you unlock the 5th Level. Since Level 1, your learning data was being carefully collected and analyzed. Every response you gave was being scrutinized, and the appropriate learning curve was being continuously applied. The ‘Open Game’ not only tests you on the entire material, but also focuses on your now apparent weaknesses.

Future Outlook

No matter how interesting a game can be, after you complete all of the provided Levels, your learning curiosity will take you to some other aspects of life. The decreased exposure to Vocabic will have a negative effect on your expertise of Vocabic’s content. In order to remedy this natural deterioration, every so often you should come back and refresh your earned knowledge (personal advice: every 3 months). Vocabic’s algorithm is designed to look for even the slightest memory degeneration symptoms. If the memory decline is large enough, the algorithm will take more drastic actions forcing you into a ‘refresher period’. These refreshers will reinvigorate previously created neural pathways tilting the scale towards long-term memory perpetuation.

The ‘refresher period’ can also be induced by your own choosing. To do this, visit the ‘Settings’ area and delete any of the 4 Level’s learning data. Be advised that ‘Deleting ALL Progress’ will make you start from the very beginning. This option is provided because experiencing the entire learning journey once more might be the very stimuli you need.
